 2018 Preview 


       B.C. Rain finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year B.C. Rain finished eighth in Class 6A region one with a 1-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Red Raiders lost as many games as in any season since 2007.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as B.C. Rain averaged scoring just 13.4 points a game.

       Since 2010, the B.C. Rain football program has struggled with a record of 24-58.

       Over the past 25 seasons, B.C. Rain has managed to compile a record of 112-141. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 6A and 241st in the AHSAA.




       The Red Raiders will be under the direction of new head football coach Rick Cauley as they enter the 2018 season.

       Coach Cauley's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 20-13 (60.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Cauley's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

       The B.C. Rain Red Raiders will play in Class 6A region one during the 2018 season.

       This season, the Red Raiders will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one.

       The Red Raiders open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent LeFlore on Thursday, August 23 at Prichard Stadium. Last year the LeFlore Rattlers finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 6A region one. The Rattlers closed out the regular season with a loss to Spanish Fort by a score of 56-20.

       B.C. Rain and LeFlore have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Red Raiders have a 13-7-0 record against the Rattlers. They last met in 2017 with LeFlore winning by a score of 22-10.

The first football game played by a high school team in Alabama was in 1892 when Central Birmingham (Phillips) lost to Alabama 56-0 on November 11.
